Sidenor R&D and BAM present together a lecture at the European Conference on Non-Destructive Testing
Sidenor R&D has been working together with BAM (German research centre) on the lecture: “Is there a need for a new standard for determination of steel cleanliness using high frequency ultrasonic testing?” which will be presented at the twelfth edition of the European Conference on Non-Destructive Testing in Gothenburg, Sweden, from June 11th to 15th(http://www.ecndt2018.com/).
This work has been developed within the framework of the “INCAFT” research project supported by the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) of the European Commission. The project aims at establishing the best combination of techniques in order to characterise the inclusionary cleanliness of steel, focusing on the size range of inclusions which can be harmful in case of fatigue. The lecture includes a draft standard of guidelines and recommendations regarding the application of a high frequency ultrasound technique for determining meso-inclusions in steel.
