Sustainable Steel

Steel is an essential material for our lifestyle. It is present in many consumer goods, and when it is not found directly, it appears as a key element in the industrial processes that are necessary for their production.

Electrical Arc Furnace (EAF) Production

100% of production is manufactured in an electric arc furnace (EAF), which represents a reduction of more than 70% in CO emissions compared to the blast furnace alternative.

Circularity

We manufacture steel with 97% recycled material.

One of its main characteristics is that it is 100% recyclable.

Renewable energy

Starting in 2025, all the electricity consumed at our facilities will be from renewable sources, thus avoiding the emission of more than 150,000 tonnes of CO annually.

Low-Emission Steels

Sidenor is one of the leading suppliers of special steels with a low carbon footprint.

At Sidenor, we eco-design based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to reduce the environmental footprint of our products. We also offer our customers the option of purchasing Sustainable Steels and Carbon-Neutral Steels.

Product Environmental Footprint Calculation and Scope

Sidenor has developed a software to calculate the environmental footprint of over 20,000 steel products using LCA (Life Cycle Analysis).

With this tool, Sidenor is able to identify the processes and materials with the greatest environmental impact and develop the optimal eco-design process for each product.

The software takes into account all the characteristics that define a product in the calculation, such as composition, finish, heat treatments, profile, and dimensions.

At Sidenor, we are committed to conducting quantitative environmental assessments of our products and to transparent environmental communication with our customers.

Certified in accordance with the general instructions of the international EPD PROCESS® system (www.environdec.com) and the ISO 14067 standard.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

The process for preparing environmental product declarations is certified by a third party according to the EPD® System, as well as by the Product Carbon Footprint management system in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 14067:2019 standard and the PCR 2015:03 Basic iron or steel products & Special steels, except construction products v2.0.
