Sidenor 2021 Sustainability Report. Non-financial information statement
64 Sustainability Report 2021 | Environmental sustainability Renewable energy supply policy In order to ensure the achievement of our objectives, Sidenor developed a green energy purchase strategy which is meant to be sustainable over time and contribute, together with the other energy efficiency actions, to reaching the reduction in emissions related with Scope 2 within the defined period. This strategy is based on 2 areas of work. In 2021, Sidenor concluded a PPA (Power Purchasing Agreement) with Naturgy for part of the energy consumed for the next ten years. Self-consumption systems were implemented in our main production facilities through photovoltaic solar energy projects. Scope II: Indirect greenhouse gas emissions linked to the generation of electricity acquired and consumed by the organisation. Protection of our surroundings In addition to taking care of the natural environments where we are present (none of which is protected), we develop initiatives aimed at their recovery, especially if they are of ecological, landscape, scientific or cultural interest. We thus provide society with new areas for recreation and enjoyment. The recovery and conversion of the Basauri heap into a 45,000 square metre park, carried out at the end of 2017, is a clear example of the recovery performed by the Company in this field. Over €85,000 were invested in improving the accessibility, traceability and accuracy of the data brought by our product environmental calculator.
