Sidenor 2021 Sustainability Report. Non-financial information statement
59 Waste At Sidenor, we want to get the most out of the use of our resources, reusing and valorising, for example, the auxiliary materials used in the iron and steel industry. In this regard, we have implemented a circular economy model according to which we foster practices for the responsible management of our waste, with the aim to segregate, reuse, recycle and recover most of it. Based on this model, we are developing innovative practices through which we have been able to valorise a large part of our waste: white slag in cement production processes; steel mill dust in the zinc recovery industry; and mill scale in sintering plants for blast furnace iron and steel processes. The total waste recovered amounted to 142,660 tonnes (97,550 tonnes in 2020).
