50 Sustainability Report 2021 | Environmental sustainability For Sidenor, circular economy is a shift lever to improve its competitive capacity. This concepts involves an efficient economy in the use of resources and the reduction in carbon emissions with the aim to: Improve economic results while reducing resource use. Manufacture products with a smaller environmental footprint. Open new customer and financing markets. Ensure the supply security of essential resources. Combat climate change and limit the environmental impacts of resource use. At Sidenor, we base the management of our activity on this model, incorporating the life cycle of the products we manufacture, which helps us be more responsible and sustainable. As part of this commitment, we have adhered to the Circular Economy Agreement, promoted by the Ministries of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment as well as Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, which aims at involving the main economic and social players in Spain in the transition towards a new economic model. This initiative aims at creating a policy framework intended to support the change to a low carbon-emission and resource-efficient economy which contributes to improving economic results, while reducing the use of resources; identifying and creating new economic growth opportunities and boosting innovation and competitiveness; ensuring the supply security of essential resources; combatting climate change and limiting the environmental impacts of resource use.
