83 6 6. Sustainability We are committed to the economic and social development of the regions where we are present. According to the amount invoiced in 2020, 49% of Sidenor suppliers are local, from the provinces where we have our production centres, and 79% are national suppliers. In terms of numbers, 67% of Sidenor suppliers which invoiced in 2020 are local, from the provinces where we have our production centres, and 92% are national suppliers. The difference between turnover (79% in 2020 and 2019) and supplier number (92% in 2020 and 90% in 2019) is mainly due to the fact that some raw materials such as ferroalloys are mined, produced and marketed in foreign countries. There is a very high economic impact on very few suppliers, which modifies the turnover percentage distribution. From a sustainability and responsibility point of view, we foster the improvement of our suppliers’ environmental, ethical and social profile. For example, Sidenor is a reference and a pioneer in the reduction and use of refractory waste by means of joint projects with suppliers.
