Sidenor 2020 Corporate Report

46 Corporate Report 2020 | Environment Circular economy and the fight against climate change have become two of the main levers of social and economic change. Aware of this reality, Sidenor, as part of its commitment to the environment and sustainable development, has decided to go one step further and to establish concrete environmental objectives associated with its strategy in terms of decarbonisation and circular economy. 1. Climate change objectives The reduction of our environmental footprint is one of the major challenges we are facing from a social and business point of view. In the years to come, the environmental behaviour of our products will be a key competitiveness factor in order to satisfy the demand of our customers and financial markets. For this reason, Sidenor has pledged to reach climate neutrality by 2050 and, as intermediary challenges, has endeavoured to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% until 2025, and by 60% until 2030. 2. Circular economy objectives Sidenor adheres to the commitment to address one of the main concerns of our close environment, which is the reduction of waste disposed of in landfills. To do so, Sidenor has pledged to reach 90% of waste valorization by 2025 and 95% by 2030. We will work on strategies aimed at reducing waste generation, increasing its reuse, ensuring the quality of our sub-products and identifying valorisation opportunities for waste intended for landfill. At Sidenor, we also work on eco design, identifying, when a product/service is contemplated, all environmental impacts which might occur in each phase of its life cycle, with the aim to reduce these impacts to a minimum, without prejudice to its quality and applications.
