44 Corporate Report 2020 | Environment Environmental and energy management All our worksites have implemented an Environmental and Energy Management System that is aligned with standards ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 and requires analyses of all our industrial activities. Through this system, which is fully integrated in our activity, we guarantee the assessment, planning and environmental monitoring of our entire process. To do so, the Environment and Energy Affairs area holds, during the first quarter of every year, specific meetings with each production area to establish an annual action plan based on the results obtained and those expected for the following year. We see continuous improvement as a fundamental basis for our management system. For this reason, in 2020, we carried out a revision and modification of the compliance indicator of significant aspects. This process modification has provided the tool with more dynamism and efficiency. It has enabled us to improve the identification of aspects and prompts us to interact more actively with the areas in order to design, develop and implement procedure changes and relaunch the system. Such a change, together with the restrictions resulting from COVID-19, has led to a longer- term programming of the actions identified in 2020, which are over 400. For this reason, a decrease in actions executed in this period can be detected. In addition, we apply the precautionary principle to our high-impact activities and have a civil and environmental liability insurance, as explained in the annual accounts of the financial year, in order to mitigate the consequences of any incident that might derive from our activities. In 2020, just like in 2019, no claim or procedure which might result in a liability of the Company in environmental matters was presented or initiated against Sidenor. Besides, as we are also concerned by Law 26/2007 on Environmental Responsibility, we provided the administrations with the relevant risk analyses and responsible statements in order to establish, where necessary, financial guarantees for priority-2 installations in 2019 and 2020.
