8 Corporate report 2019 | About us At Sidenor, we are leaders in the production of special types of long steel and a major supplier of calibrated products in the European market. We have production centres in the Basque Country, Cantabria and Catalonia and sales offices in Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom. Our highly specialised facilities that are capable of providing ideal solutions to all industrial sectors requiring steel with high service and quality requisites. Our steel production capacity, which is close to nine hundred thousand tonnes after the sales of 75.1% of the company Sidenor Forgings & Castings in 2019, is mainly intended for the manufacture of parts and components for the automobile sector, machinery and capital goods, naval and civil construction, defence, energy, mining and the petrochemical sector. In all these sectors, Sidenor’s special steel is used to produce highly reliable products. At Sidenor, we address the change of cycle with experience, solvency and capacity, as well as new initiatives such as the development and growth of the special steel activity in new markets or the launching of a diversification process, extending our activity to other areas. We maintain a strong commitment to our professionals, which are close to 1,800. We strive to provide them with the best possible place to work and develop their careers. Moreover, we are constantly looking out for their safety, which is a priority for the Group. In 2019, we concluded the sale of 75.1% of Sidenor Forgings & Castings to the German- American consortium NFL, while remaining temporary partners and committing to purchasing 30,000 tonnes of ingots per year for the next 6 years. This aspect should be taken into account when comparing the figures for 2019 and 2018 (the year in which Sidenor Forgings & Castings was part of the Group).
