36 Corporate report 2019 | Environment Environmental care is a strategic axis for the Company, as set out in our Code of Ethics: “Sidenor is committed to providing the best care for the environment while carrying out its activities” and “shall contribute to the conservation of natural resources and areas of ecological, landscape, scientific or cultural interest”. Our main production centres fall under the scope of Law 16/2002, of July 1st, on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control and therefore have the corresponding IEA (integrated environmental authorisation) that establishes all environmental conditions which must be complied with according to the best available techniques (BAT) defined at European level. Over the last ten years, we have allocated more than 30 million euros to the development of environmental and energy efficiency initiatives, with the aim of optimising our performance by improving our equipment and processes, but also our culture, by developing training and awareness- raising programmes at every organisational level. This leads us to continuously improve in the environmental field, by reviewing our policies and making new commitments which help us position ourselves as a reference in the sector. Optimising the use of resources, decreasing waste generation or reducing our emissions are some examples of this. In this way, we decrease each year the environmental footprint of our activities and move forward in our mission to achieve sustainable business development.
